One of my greatest pleasures is seeing a child smile as they realize that they are now a reader. Many of the students that I work with attend the first session already feeling that they have failed and some even believe that no one can teach them to read. Because confidence is one of the best predictors of academic achievement, it is my goal that when the child leave the first session, they are already feeling more confident in their abilities.
I am well-versed in a variety of interventions, including Lindamood-Bell, Wilson, and Orton-Gillingham and I use this knowledge, along with my understanding of language to individualize instruction and guide remediation. Moreover, I consistently evaluate the effectiveness of the remediation strategies and make adjustments as necessary.
My professional career has focused on improving literacy instruction for preschool and school-aged children. As a classroom teacher and in private practice, I have taught students with learning disabilities, conducted academic and language testing, and developed and led summer programs for struggling students. I have served as a classroom literacy coach and a trainer of coaches. Additionally, I have created and facilitated numerous professional development courses for teachers and administrators.
